Match reports and photos

The Dorset Echo Youth Sport section is re-launching as a supplement from Wednesday 17th September. All the football reports, pictures, tables, fixtures etc will appear in that section every Wednesday. Can all managers (or whoever may write the match reports) please ensure they are emailed to sport@dorsetecho.co.uk by 10am on Tuesday.

A few guidelines for reports:

Please ensure they are kept to about 150 words. There is no need to try and mention every player in the team each week-you will soon get to 150 words before you know it. Over the season they will all get plenty of mentions.

Please no criticism of match officials no matter how hard done by you feel.

There will be an Echo photographer working every Sunday but may be only at one location. So feel free to submit photographs to the same address if you like. However, please check with opposing teams that it is okay to take photographs of their children for possible publication in the Echo.

Team photos: the Echo will try and take team photos before games if possible and practical but it can often be hectic and as you may be missing player one week you may want to submit your own of the whole squad.

Under-8s. This year under-8s is non-competitive so there will be no results or league tables published. However, if you want to submit a general report of the game (without mentioning the score) please feel free to do so. It is far from satisfactory but at least the boys will get a mention and the pictures can be used.

The onus is usually on the home team to submit reports (especially with two local teams).. However, it is always worth checking with the opposition to see if they will be doing one? If not feel free to do one whether you are home or away.

If anyone has any queries please email the sportsdesk at the above.
